My target audience are people interested in fashion and music. A large scale questionnaire would help with the delivery process and the location on which the magazine is focused on to be able to better relate with the people. As the magazine is a demo and for now it is not going to be published for the public I decided to answer some questions myself because I am not able to reach such a large audience for relevant answers. After I did some research by asking some of my friends and family. Also, I looked at other magazines in my domain to discover more about their audience giving myself an idea of what to expect.
These answered set of questions should be able to give an idea about my targeted audience
What age/gender are they?
The magazine will focus on a larger audience (14-60) as its main topic is music (art) which invites all ages. Usually, females consume more magazines than males, therefore I expect my magazine to be consumed in a 70/30 ratio.
What magazines do they like?
Magazines in industries such as fashion and music may be of interest as the magazine I am making focuses on those two topics.
How do they usually read magazines?
Young people from ages 14-30 usually use digital formats of magazines as they are more accessible and they are more used to technology. But physical formats are also important for an elderly group of people (30+) who mostly prefer physical reading. This assumption is made based on an article posted by Luca Filigheddu on paperlit.
What kind of content do they usually enjoy in the magazine genre you chose?
In my opinion, most of them would enjoy the creativity of the topics and they will be most interested in the art mixed with information. The art part will be the photos presented on the pages involving different styles of music and their connection. The information will mostly be about the relationship between music and fashion for the various genres of music.
In which of the following groups do they think they fit into: explorer, aspirer, succeeder, reformer, mainstream, struggler, resigned?
Because all humans need a form of art and my magazine covers 2 of those forms. People in categories such as explorer or resigned could be more interested in the magazine than other groups as they like to experience different things. For example, an explorer would like to try and discover different experiences which highly matches out target audience profile as we discover fashion and different music styles.
