Props

Props are important to help us deliver a message. They help us give a more authentic look and meet convention criteria. In my opinion, props can be physical and digital, as archival footage and inserts have the same meaning as physical props.

Mise-en-scene

  • The artist’s tools. Paintbrushes, palettes, sketchbooks, and sculpting tools—We want to capture as many original and defining objects through the studio to give a raw look into the artist’s studio and creative space, appealing to an audience interested in art and craftsmanship.

  • Finished & Unfinished Artworks. These artworks will show the viewer a more unfiltered look of the art than in expositions, as the light is not focused and the paints are not finished. This can connect the viewer more with the artist.

Cutaways

  • Archival footage, such as old pictures of the painters since they were kids or actual archival footage of other pieces of media, for example, old movies, can help illustrate a better time frame of the action.

  • Inserts are used to allow the speaker to show a visual representation of what he is talking about. For example, by inserting Footage in the middle of the conversation about Oil paintings, visual references such as Oil or Canvas,

Locations

Below are the different locations that we will be going to film at. They are highlighted depending on their meaning. I did this so you and I could have a visual representation of the filming days and their starting point ( for me ). The red ones are for filming the J cuts or B rolls that would be used to visualize what the interviewee is talking about. Also, they are the first to come on the schedule. Green is the location where the interviews are filmed ( their studios ), and blue is where my home is and where my filming equipment is located.

RED

  • The Art Museum

  • UAD ( University of art and design )

  • Dali museum

GREEN

  • Oana's Studio

  • Ovidiu's Studio

BLUE

  • My Home

Equipment

When it comes to equipment, I can say I have luck. My parents are in the domain, so I can benefit from all their professional equipment for free. It consists of everything we need and more in a professional spectrum. From 2 cameras that allow us to record the interviews using two angles to a Gimbal that allows us to take stabilized footage in moving scenarios. All this is an advantage when it comes to our goal to make it look as professional as possible. Now it's on us to deliver. Rianna made a list on her iPad with everything we need.

THE GEAR

I have also set reminders by putting sticky notes on the equipment to charge everything and to have space on the memory cards so we don't find ourselves in a difficult situation.

Other Equipment

We also need to add to the list my computer with 3 monitors that has Canva Premium, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and other programs on which I plan to edit the major and minor tasks. Other devices are also at our disposal, such as Rianna's MacBook Pro and iPad Air, or my iPad Pro. The iPads can come in handy for minor tasks, as you can draw on them, which can help us visualize our ideas more.

I also plan to use my phone to create the documentary's Instagram account, as the user interface is more suited to phones than the web.
