Contact sheet, photos selection & editing

After the photoshoot was done, the most difficult task arrived. And what I mean by that is that it was challenging for me to make sure that I chose the right photos for the magazine. I had to consider the size of the picture and also the ambience of it. At the same time, my vision for the magazine required the photos to be quite similar in size, so the format of the page wouldn't change. Another thing I had to consider while choosing the photos was that the cover and back cover had to have the model in the same frame so that it could tell the story I wanted.

The total amount of pictures came out at a number of 841 out of which I chose 51 for Riana and 48 for Raluca. the next part was choosing the final pictures which will be used in the magazine

First model selection

Rianna's pictures came down to a selection of 6 for the feature article. I also made 2 pictures of her back to back for the content pages. Her clothes were resembling Hip Hop and Classical genre. Out of these 6 photos, I am going to choose the ones pointed out because they are longer and not as wide as the other pictures. This is important for achieving the expected layout of the magazine.

Second model selection

Raluca's outfits were made thinking of country and rock genres. The final selection of 6 photos is very good but the 2 pictures chosen are in my opinion the best of them. Also, the same problem as at Riana occurred as most of the pictures were too wide for my liking. Raluca is also the cover model as the pictures were made specifically for it.

I plan to make changes to each chosen photo in exposure, colours and sharpness. I will play around till I find a good balance in each picture. The app used will be Pictures from windows as it has amazing editing capabilities and it is simple to work with.
