Initial reflection

In the past year and a half, I have been learning about media, film production, editing, photography, and blogging. I learned a lot about all these topics, but it is still insufficient for completing the A levels with satisfactory results. I find myself in a good spot with editing as I have been enjoying the process; therefore, learning has been really easy. It still was a challenge as I had never used professional apps like Photoshop before the magazine task I did.

Again this year, I need to learn Premier Pro for all the tasks requiring video editing, which will again not be challenging, but I expect the same level of satisfaction, making me eager to start. I have also learned a lot about the production and edits, from cuts, transitions, sound, to different tactics to captivate the audience, which I find interesting. This year, I hope to learn and to understand better video production and editing as well as a deeper understanding of certain subjects like media and power or postmodernism.

What did I choose?

After careful consideration, I decided that I want to do the Documentary package as I find it the most interesting out of all of them. This will include a 5-minute finished part from a documentary series, one magazine article page with the documentary, and one social media page that will promote the series.

Since I was little, I have found documentaries very complex and fascinating. Therefore, that drives me to want to know how to make them. Series like "The Last Dance", which is a documentary about the basketball legend Michael Jordan, have inspired me to pursue this subject in high school. It will be a challenge to create a documentary as I do not have any experience in videography or video editing, but I am confident that I will learn quickly and do a good job. For this to happen, I need to learn a lot and study other documentaries and their production methods. In the magazine article, I know I won't have any problems as last year's experiences have taught me all I need to know.

Instagram will be the social media platform on which an account and page will be created based on the documentary because I have been using it for 6 years already, and I find it the most influential for my generation out of all the other platforms
